Artemisia Absinthium Wormwood

Artemisia Absinthium Wormwood is very popular throughout Europe. I have seen many varieties of wormwood growing in Russia & Ukraine as well. Wormwood is well known and used in Europe for medicinal use, besides its storied use in Absinthe. In fact, my wife used to pick wormwood in the forest and fields and sell it to the local apothecary for a little spending money as a child.

The photo above comes from one of the many herbal gardens located throughout Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

Interesting blog. I had no idea there was this much about absinthe out there. I still have yet to even try it though I have ingested thujone (psychoactive compound in wormword) from mugwort. It definitely had an effect though mild. I wonder if the thujone in absinthe contributes to intoxication?
